I am aware this particular area of the North Coast is a very good place to live in.
The water woes and constant sewage spills into the ocean and rivers elsewhere really brings this home.
A large part of our very pleasant lifestyle here can be attributed to the excellent service we receive from the iLembe municipality that was wise enough to grab the offer of a subsidised concession (Siza Water) to provide us with water when we were cut off from erstwhile North Coast Regional Water at the time when we entered the new democratic dispensation.
A detailed contract was developed, giving us a good service enjoyed by those lucky enough to live in the concession area.
Regrettably, the concession will come to an end in 5 or 6 years and one can only hope that sanity will prevail and the contract is renewed.
We are also blessed with a regular, professional refuse removal service.
Another example of private enterprise delivering a professional service, unlike the debacle in Durban where politically connected people hold the city to ransom by being awarded lucrative contracts without the ability to do the work.
President Ramaphosa welcomed private partnerships in his recent SONA speech.
Perhaps the sentiment will prevail locally in the future.
