#Letter: Roads a nightmare

"And while we are very grateful for the speedhumps on the R102 from Groutville to Etete, has anyone in authority tried driving over them with 4 or 5 passengers in the car?" - Reshma Haripershad.

Reshma Haripershad of Etete writes:

Through your newspaper I would like to get assistance on a few road issues.

Currently the R102 to from Etete to Ballito has been washed away. We are now forced to use Thembeni Road to get to the Umvoti tollgate.

The road is a nightmare, however, as it is littered with huge, dangerous potholes,

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could assist to get this road repaired as we have already incurred so much loss and damages owing to the floods.

Also, the lights from the Umdloti tollgate to Tongaat do not work. I have called the the office on numerous occasions, but the lights are still not working.

The streetlights from Shakaskraal to the Sasko bakery have also been out of order for more than six months and this has also been left unattended.

And while we are very grateful for the speedhumps on the R102 from Groutville to Etete, has anyone in authority tried driving over them with 4 or 5 passengers in the car?

Our cars are damaged by these speedhumps. I have tried calling the municipality about the matter but after 5 phone calls and being referred to 3 different people, I have lost hope.

I now hope this letter will be read by someone who can guide me to the right channels.
