Ballito resident Clive Kohrs writes:
I am appalled with the no-care attitude of certain developers in our town.
After many months of observing the situation at the apartments currently being built behind the Ashton sports grounds, it is obvious the developers do not give a flying hoot that everyone else in the community except them are trying their best to conserve electricity.
Please do yourself a favour and drive past the development at any time and witness exactly what I am highlighting – every single light throughout all the apartments being built are left on 24 hours, seven days a week.
Surely the developer can understand that we are in a dire situation and that their co-operation will make a difference, no matter how small, to the situation.
Arcis sales and marketing manager Andrea Antoriello responds:
The lights at Arcis are kept on to prevent theft and ensure residents are safe in occupied phases prior to handover.
There are double security measures in place, as client safety and security is our top priority.
We shall reduce the number of lights on in the apartments going forward as we are happy to meet our local residents halfway.
All electricity used on the construction site is paid for by Arcis. We also have backup power sources.
