#Letter: Punishing independent power producers not on

"Gangsters are stealing the coal at Eskom and tenders get paid for work that never happens. Gangsters are running our country right from the top" - Colleen McKee.

Colleen McKee of KZN MIGUA Powerbase systems writes:

I read the article by James Anderson regarding KDM’s plan to target people who have gone off the Eskom grid (“Private power gridlock”, Courier, June 2).

This is just another way of keeping the gravy train from drying up.

Everyone is so sick and tired of the ever-increasing loadshedding which is getting longer and longer. People who have gone off the grid need a congratulatory handshake for moving towards green energy.

Some of us just don’t have the money to do this, but if KDM is going to impose tariffs on people who do, they are going to have a huge outcry on their hands. Going green should be a top priority all over the world.

It is not only the loadshedding that frustrates us, it is the breakdown of the power stations that clearly have not been maintained for years.

The people who go off the grid should receive a tax rebate.

I hope the community stands together to put a stop to this senseless request to make people pay tariffs.

It is just crazy. They worry about not having enough money when everyone eventually goes off the grid. I hope we all do.

Gangsters are stealing the coal at Eskom and tenders get paid for work that never happens. Gangsters are running our country right from the top.

We have to put a stop to it.
