#Letter: Pothole menace must be attended to

"It is implausible that this has not been attended to by the municipality's roads department. Surely not all infrastructure attendance can be left up to the private sector" - Karin van den Barselaar.

Ballito resident Karin van den Barselaar writes:

I am writing to you to make the traveling public on Ocean Drive and Chaka’s Rock Drive (corner at Salt Café) aware of the huge potholes/sinkholes in the road, which have been left unattended for a year.

Any unwitting holidaymaker or newcomer to our beautiful Dolphin Coast will come out second best should they not see these potholes.

They are not signposted or demarcated and will most certainly cause tyre and suspension damage.

It is implausible that this has not been attended to by the municipality’s roads department. Surely not all infrastructure attendance can be left up to the private sector.

This is a terrible embarrassment for the municipality, making it appear inefficient and uncaring.

I sincerely hope this matter will be attended to with the utmost urgency before the Christmas holidaymakers descend on us.
