#Letter: Disgusting public behaviour sets poor example, from litter to public lewdness

"The future generation is being exposed to these ills of society and tend to accept it as normal" - Charles Munsamy

Tongaat resident Charles Munsamy writes:

Pollution pests are like vermin in the environment, destroying everything they step on.

I witnessed an appalling incident on Saturday, October 19 while driving along the once picturesque Ushukela Drive from Westbrook to Tongaat.

I was following a black Mercedes at 4.25pm. Just before the traffic lights at Crawford, a large blue plastic bag stuffed with litter was flung out of the car.

Has this person’s sense of both hygiene and cleanliness been so seared that he/she does not appreciate the wrongfulness of his/her action?

Upon passing the traffic lights, I then noticed another disgusting and offensive act. An adult male on the roadside was urinating in full view of motorists.

Such disgraceful acts are committed daily on our roads. The future generation is being exposed to these ills of society and tend to accept it as normal, and that is the tragedy.
Shame on these people.
