#Letters: Darnall bridge remains a death trap

There appears to be a total lack of urgency by authorities to repair the dangerous stretch of road.

Darnall DA councillor Melissa Vembali writes:

Despite relentless communication from the Democratic Alliance to the Department of Transport, the stockpile of sand at the Darnall bridge remains a death trap to motorists more than two years later.

There appears to be a total lack of urgency from operational teams at the department. This stretch of road is known for its high accident rate and it is therefore unconscionable that the department remains silent to the pleas of the Darnall community.

In the absence of the transport department taking the concerns of the community and road users seriously, we will be calling on the departnment regional director to intervene and ensure that this matter is attended to expeditiously to prevent loss of lives ahead of the festive season.
