#Letters: Murdered Upper Tongaat toddler laid to rest

Ward councillor grateful for dignified burial, but says more needs to be done to protect children.

KwaDukuza Ward 21 Councillor, Nkululeko Sithole, writes:

Regarding the toddler who was murdered in Upper Tongaat on Boxing Day, whose funeral was held at the Sinqobile Sports Field on Saturday. I would like to thank everyone who attended the funeral and assisted the family through this difficult time. We were grateful to be able to send off the child with dignity

At the same time, I am saddened about the behaviour of men towards women and children, in what has become accepted as the norm in our communities.

I urge the provincial government to intervene, do investigations and work to find corrective actions, otherwise this will never stop.
