#Letter: The war in Gaza has not ended

Larry Seago writes the celebrations may have been premature.

Larry Seago of Ballito writes:

It is my opinion that Bruce (TwoBits: Who are the Good Guys? Courier, October 24) has jumped the gun as the war in Gaza has not come to an end and Trump alone is not responsible for all negotiations.

Trump does nothing that does not benefit his pocket. Trump is, or was, in the estate business and his main interest is to turn Gaza into an up-market playground for the elite. From my readings, Trump has been insolvent on two occasions and was rescued by his father.

It is my belief that Trump is a dictator. This was my impression way back when he tried to be a TV star, and he would like to be president of the USA for a long time. Should he manage to go the full length of this presidency he will try to stay in the chair forever. If you do not agree with or do what Trump says you are fired.

Trump is not to be trusted. Look what he is doing financially to the rest of the world. The poor are suffering and only the very wealthy will survive. Look what he did to Musk.

He took a large amount of money from Musk to support his campaign and then ditched him. What a nice friend Trump is. Oh, and what about his attitude towards Zelensky when Trump’s son got into hot water and Zelensky could not pull strings on their behalf.

As for the return of the hostages, at time of compiling this “opinion,” not all have been returned as some have been buried and not found.

In the event that Hamas does find and return the full number of bodies, Israel still wants Hamas to lay down all arms and to leave Gaza and to have no part in governing the Palestinians.

Hamas has not done so, so the war will go on. To end this, can anyone tell me what started this unhappy relationship between Israel and Palestine? Did it start with “David and Goliath” or at the end of World War 2?

The return of 48 living hostages was what mattered. The rest don’t mind waiting. – BS
