Nailbiting finish for touch rugby finals

Local girl Tyler Mirtle makes us proud!

After an exciting few days of inter provincials in the Touch Rugby tournament held at Crawford College North Coast, the KZN U19 team lost in the dying seconds of the finals.

Ashton International College grade 12 pupil Tyler Mirtle, who plays for the U19 KZN team as the first six, and plays number 14 wing position, celebrated her fourth year of participation in the tournament.

Tyler has worn two Captain hats and two years as player in the older age group.

In the finals, the first two tries – scored by Tyler and a further two by captain Michaela Geytenbeek, by the end of play were equalised by Westerns.

With the final score level at four-all, the game went to drop off and Westerns scored to win the gold in extra time.

A very close and exciting game however, with KZN brought home silver medals for their efforts.
