Dolphins field making progress
The club's new field at Sugar Rush can do with some rain before any matches are played.
Three junior teams of the Ballito Dolphins participated in the third round of the DRSU league held at Durban Collegians last Sunday.
Some great progress and potential for the future was revealed as the U6/7 team recorded their first ever win over Queensburgh, outscoring their opponents by seven tries to nil.
The U8/9s put up a spirited fight against a very well drilled Toti side and also showed their mettle in their second game against Hillcrest.
The experience gained from going down to these strong sides will prove valuable learning for the rest of the season.
In a David versus Goliath type match up, the U10/11 team were pitted against the Durban Crusaders in a full field, 15-a-side game.
The local boys showed a lot of heart against their much larger opponents, eventually going down by a close 0-5 on the scoreboard.
The Ballito Dolphins will host their first junior tournament on June 14 at their new home ground at Sugar Rush, just outside Ballito.
While the U11 team was practising over the weekend, parents were hard at work pulling out weeds from the new pitch to prepare for the event.
Club chairman Kevin Murphy said they have already secured spotlights and rugby poles and quipped that all the fields need now is some rain.
