Nothing beats volleyball
For this young, local sport, nothing comes close to volleyball.
Stanger Manor volleyball star Kyle Puckree said there is nothing that he enjoys more than a good game of volleyball.
Puckree started playing the sport for the KSST in KwaDukuza in 2010 and has grown from strength to strength ever since. He received his first provincial cap in 2011 and within was the captain of the KZN volleyball team within three years.
“The team was doing well and its hard to explain the joy I experienced while playing for my province,” said Puckree.
His success led him to be selected as part of the SA team that represented the country at the 2013 African Championship in Tunisia.
Although the team only came seventh out of ten participating teams, Puckree said it was the best experience of his life and he hopes to get another chance to take part.
He believes that the sport can grow if the community of KwaDukuza can be given enough facilities for volleyball.
“I travel to Durban twice a week to train because there is no indoor volleyball court in KwaDukuza,” said Puckree.
The calm friendly young star works in a music store and he said when he is not busy with sport, he likes to spend time with his family.
He used to play soccer before he decided to concentrate on volleyball.
“I was a striker for Rocky Park, playing at the SAB league in KwaDukuza. It was cool but not as much fun as playing volleyball!”
