Strong showing by local karatekas

ISKF Stanger and Glenhills duo scoop double gold.

The Stanger and Glenhills ISKF karate clubs travelled to Tongaat earlier this month to participate in the 25th annual ISKF National Championships. With karatekas representing all nine provinces converging in KZN, the level of competition did not disappoint.

Competitors demonstrated their skills in the kata (form) and kumite (freestyle sparring) disciplines, while participants under the age of 13 were also able to participate in ippon kumite (one point attack sparring). All medal winners over the age of eight with a green to black belt will have the opportunity to participate in the 2016 World championships taking place in Cape Town in August 2016.

The ISKF students of Stanger and Glenhills showed their metal and the duo of Jerome Naidoo and Diya Singh scooped double gold in their respective divisions.

The ISKF Stanger club trains at the RA Moodley hall and the ISKF Glenhills club trains at the Glenhills Sports Centre. For more information contact Sensei Jonny Pillay (083) 420 1041.
