Padel court launched at Ballito Hills

Part tennis, part squash, the game is played on a court with walls and a net, with a ball that is closer to that of tennis.

Ballito Hills Lifestyle Estate recently launched a new padel court amid a morning of family fun.

Estate residents turned up on Saturday to try their hand at the new craze, which is quickly spreading across the country.

The sport is among the fastest growing worldwide and now has two locations on the North Coast after Station Padel launched in Umhlali in July.

First played in Mexico in 1969, it was initially popular in Hispanic countries, but has grabbed the global imagination over the past few years.

“It really is a great sport, and the way it is designed makes it possible for people of all ages to enjoy. We are always trying to reflect the interest of our residents and we were pleased to see the support this court has already had,” said Balwin Properties CEO, Steve Brookes.
