Ballito Open golf day raises more than R24 000 for Orphan Fund

Excellent golf emerged, often from the winning four-ball of Duval Dorfling, Patrique de Pierres, Wayne Heap and Aka Theocharopoulos who finished with 89 points.

A full field of golfers came out swinging in support of The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund, raising R24 586 at the 22nd annual Ballito Open golf day on December 28.

The team of Duval Dorfling, Patrique de Pierres, Wayne Heap and Aka Theocharopoulos took first place with 89 points.

Sunny but windy conditions greeted the players at Umhlali Country Club, with scoring difficult to come by, particularly for those who teed off in the afternoon.

Second place finishers – Pieter Naudé, James Anderson, George Johnston and Stuart Whittaker.

But some excellent golf still emerged, often from the winning four-ball of Duval Dorfling, Patrique de Pierres, Wayne Heap and Aka Theocharopoulos who finished with 89 points.

North Coast Courier Orphan Fund founder, Rose Stephenson, hands over the winning raffle prize to Tony Matkovich.

The chasing pack were not far behind, with many of the four-balls finishing in the 80s, all of whom took home a prize at the end.

Teams lined up on the first to take on the Ballito Open in windy conditions.

Tony Matkovich took home the best prize of all however, a signed Sharks rugby jersey which he won in the raffle.

Justin Axten takes tiger line with the driver, cutting the corner on the first hole.

But the Orphan Fund and the 13 causes it supports remained the overwhelming winner on the day.

Third place finishers – Anthony and Mandy Morgan with Frances and Roy Tremearne.

“Thank you Malcolm Mann and team for a wonderfully organised event and congratulations to all the winners. The Orphan Fund looks forward to your continued support in the years to come,” said fund co-ordinator, Charmaine Premlal.
