Swinging for the fences at the annual 6s cricket competition
The final did not disappoint and the match was eventually decided on the last ball of the tournament.
The returning Mayoral 6s Cup showed off some thrilling junior and senior cricket in KwaDukuza over the weekend.
Hosted by the KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) at Gledhow Cricket Club, the tournament had a fast-paced five over format, with six players making up each team in the U17 and senior categories.
Given the limited overs, batsmen had the freedom to swing the willow and did so happily, notching up a number of big boundaries and scores.
It was the turn of the U17s to start the action, with KwaDukuza’s Manor Cricket Club (MCC) the group to beat, fielding two out of the four semi-finalist teams.
In the first semi, Manor A defeated United, while Manor B beat Oceanville, proving their pre-tournament favourite status and setting up an all MCC final.
Manor A reigned supreme behind a thrilling 35 not-out from skipper Darshan Pather as the team went on to post a score of 54.

Jordan Steyn played a good knock to score 28 in the chase, but Manor B were bowled out for 42 to give Manor A victory by 13 runs.
The seniors kicked off later in the afternoon, with MCC’s elder statesmen trying to match the heroics of their youngsters.
They started well, beating United in the semi-finals, while Dawnheights edged out Oceanville to set up a competitive final.
It did not disappoint and the match was eventually decided on the last ball of the tournament.
Dawnheights batted first after losing the toss, posting a score of 43 for the team from Stanger Manor to chase.
A relatively unphased MCC arrived at the last over with wickets in hand and needing just seven from the final six balls.
But two wickets from leg-spinner Mayuren Lognathan put the game in jeopardy and a last ball run was needed to make it an MCC double for the juniors and seniors.
