“This year saw the number of schools double and the committee’s work towards the promotion of mini cricket in iLembe was simply outstanding,” said iLembe Cricket president, Desigan Pillay.

Borne from the success of the event, mini cricket will find a regular place on the calendar from next January, with coaching sessions and matches taking place every fortnight at KwaDukuza Primary.

The pupils were thrilled with their day of cricket.

“Schools are encouraged to send their teams every fortnight on Saturdays throughout the year. A calendar detailing the dates and times for coaching has been sent to schools.”
