Ballito fighter Tyrone Schaper means business

Tyrone's journey into boxing was a shift from his previous life as a rugby player.

Ballito’s rising boxing star, Tyrone Schaper, is determined to reach for the stars and make a name for himself in the boxing ring.

The 24-year-old fighter has already given notice of his intention with two wins in his first three professional bouts. His most recent victory was at the end of August in Estcourt, where he defeated his opponent in the third round.

Tyrone has issued a challenge to professional boxer Michael Head, with whom he shares a high school background in Johannesburg.

Head is currently ranked 5th in the SA light heavyweight division, but Tyrone is confident he is up for the challenge.

“I am ranked 6th and I want to show everyone that I’m not here to play games; I mean business. I have sparred with him before, so he won’t be a total stranger to me, therefore I believe we could put up a good performance.”

Tyrone’s journey into boxing was a shift from his previous life as a rugby player. It was his brother who persuaded him to step into the boxing world, a decision Tyrone doesn’t regret.

Today, he sees a promising opportunity to become one of the nation’s respected and celebrated boxers.
