Junior track star Noa Reinstein on the way up
At just the age of 16 she is already making waves on the KZN athletics scene, dominating both the 200m and 400m sprints in the U17 division.
Noa Reinstein is a junior track star streaking to a bright athletics future.
The Grade 11 pupil at Crawford International North Coast is a dual event runner, showing promise in both the 200m and 400m races.
She currently leads the U17 girls division for both distances in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and has already run qualifying times for this year’s South African Athletics Championships in April.
It will give her an opportunity to make good on the journey that began when she first started track training in Grade 5.
Originally a cross-country runner, Noa soon discovered a love for the track and can now be found training five days a week at King’s Park.
“I think we spend more time at the track than at home,” laughed Noa’s mother, Dorine.
“I am so proud of her, she works so hard. So much time and dedication go into shaving a few milliseconds off your time when you are sprinter.”
Noa’s personal bests to date are 58.22 for the 400m and 25.93 for 200m.
She cites American 400m hurdler Sydney McLaughlin as an inspiration, particularly for the motivational content the world record holder shares on social media.
Noa’s own next hurdles will be the KZN championships in March.
After matric next year, she hopes to get a scholarship to a university in America or the Netherlands where she can continue training in a professional setting.
