Tongaat’s SKISA Dojo delivers top performance at Kanazawa Cup

The SKISA Dojo claimed 17 medals between them.

Tongaat’s SKISA Dojo impressed on home soil, claiming 17 medals at the prestigious International Kanazawa Cup on April 25.

The tournament, held in honour of Hirokazu Kanazawa, attracted international elite competitors to the Tongaat Sports Centre.

Despite the high level of competition, the Tongaat team stood out, reinforcing its reputation as one the province’s leading martial arts institutions.

The team excelled in both kata and kumite divisions. In kata, competitors impressed judges with precise and controlled movements, combining balance, timing and power. In kumite, local fighters showed tactical strength and resilience.

Quick reflexes, smart pacing and the ability to adapt during bouts helped them secure victories across multiple categories, while maintaining strong sportsmanship.

The dojo now looks ahead to the UFAK Region South Championship 2026 in Luanda, Angola, from May 14 to 17.
