Tiny tots tackle the fun

The kids have a ball, as the focus of Rugby Tots is not only on rugby but on education.

Squeals of delight and the patter of nimble feet across the rugby field sounded across Umhlali Preparatory school field at the first Rugby Tots clinic on Saturday.

The Rugby Tots franchise began in the UK and has been brought to the Dolphin Coast by Empangeni resident, Tikes Odell.

Odell said he hopes to not only pass on the love of the game to the children but that his main aim was to teach them the value of working as a team.

“The kids have a ball, as the focus of Rugby Tots is not only on rugby but on education. We play fun games where we test colours, shapes and numbers.”

The playgroups are divided into age groups two to three and a half and three and a half to five and five to seven.

Rugby Tots takes place every Saturday on the school’s field.
