Ashton cricketers in non-stop action
The boys took on Crawford North Coast, Crawford La Lucia and Westville
Ashton International College‘s cricket boys had a busy schedule last week, taking on Crawford North Coast, Crawford La Lucia and Westville – winning 6 out of 8 games played.
The U15 A’s and the first boys both took on Crawford North Coast and pulled off a pair of wins.
In the U15 match Crawford were bowled out for 80 before Ashton racked up 85/2, winning the game by eight wickets.
Meanwhile, Ashton’s firsts scored a solid 143/3, with Chris Turner ending the innings on 54 not out.
Crawford followed but were only able to gather 116/6. Ashton won by 26 runs.

Then Ballito’s boys in red went head to head with Westville.
The U14 A boys took on Westville’s U14D team and won by five wickets. Westville made 119/10 compared to Ashton’s 120/5.
Meanwhile, the U16 A boys played Westville’s U16 C team and won by seven wickets.
Westville batted first and made 127/5. Ashton responded with 128/3 to seal the win.
In the big match of the day Ashton’s first team did battle with Westville’s third team.
Ashton’s boys went in to bat first and made 117/6. That wouldn’t prove enough as Westville went on to score 120/3 and win by seven wickets.

Finally, Ashton’s cricketers had to bang heads with Crawford La Lucia.
In the U14 A match Ashton scored 132/10, while their opponents were only able to make 76 runs. Ashton won by 56 runs.
Crawford then batted first in the U16 A match and made 135/7.
Ashton were unable to make the required runs, falling for 97 runs and losing by 38.
Finally, Ashton’s first team sent Crawford in to bat in the first innings and restricting them to 171/6.
This score would not be enough to keep Ashton in check as Cameron Pillay made the first century ever on Ashton’s new oval, scoring 102 not out.
Ashton won by nine wickets.
