For the love of sport

This year, all five Crawford schools were hosted by Crawford Pretoria at Camp Discovery.

“Your biggest challenge is not someone else. It is the ache in your lungs and the burning in your legs. It is the voice inside you that yells “CAN’T!”, but you do not listen, you push harder. And then you hear the voice whisper “CAN!” And you discover that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are.”

This quote was proven true after six weeks of trials when the Crawford North Coast festival team was finally announced in: basketball, chess, girls hockey, netball, boys and girls soccer, tennis and touch rugby. This year, all five Crawford schools were hosted by Crawford Pretoria at Camp Discovery.

As travelling is part of the experience, flying into Lanseria with a festive group of excited teenagers, accompanied by enthusiastic sports coaches bode well for a wonderful few days of sport away.

The bond formed in sport with each other was cemented by the desire to grow the team spirit at every opportunity.

Girls’ soccer coach Marion said her team were amazing.

“They pushed, they cried, they hurt…but most of all they kept the above quote in mind and gave their hearts.”

The time spent away with friends in sport adds to the success of cohesive team building. The results talk to the value this brings to any young sportsman’s game. The soccer boys can be very proud of their result against local rivals, Crawford La Lucia, winning their match 2-0. The young girls’ hockey team can also be proud of winning one, and drawing one match – they have an exciting high school hockey career ahead.

The anticipated value executive head Crawford Schools North Coast Vernon David will bring to the campus for the winter season of sport is welcomed.
