Say ‘Yebo’ to success

Childhood years of hardship and poverty drove Bongani "Yebo" Majola to become a successful businessman and to help other small businesses.

Majola (38), who lives in the prestigious Zimbali Coastal Estate is usually seen in the streets of KwaDukuza driving luxurious cars with a “Yebo” personalised number plate.

The Enkandla born man was raised by a single parent, Kishiwe Shandu who was a domestic worker at a farm in Melmoth, Zululand.

“I used to work as a gardener for my mother’s employer during school holidays and weekends. However, due to the extreme poverty at home, I had to drop out of school and work full time at a dairy farm to help my mother.”

His mother used to earn R400 a month while he earned R200. It was not a lot of money but they managed to survive.

“When I lost my job at the dairy, I did a security course and worked for a security company in Mtunzini for almost ten years.”

He said working as a security guard was tough.

“I promised myself that one day I would open my own security company and treat my guards better than I was treated.”

He resigned and started his own business selling clothes. Despite it not succeeding Majola decided to try again in 2007 by opening a construction company, Luyeza Trading.

“My breakthrough was getting a tender in Eshowe to build a road.”

He also recently launched his security company, Yebo Force Security.

“Now that I have managed to open my security company, I will now be taking the next step to assist young entrepreneurs. I believe as citizens we will only succeed if we work together and help each other,” said Majola.
