Smith arrived at the Zwartkops 5 December finale in the championship lead and finished third for the day behind Nicholas Verheul and Nicolas Spanoyannis.
An MSA championship table published previously, had Verheul as champion and Smith in second.
The race and championship report were published on Monday reflecting the championship results as initially scored by MSA.
It subsequently transpired that the first DD2 championship table had been incorrectly calculated.
Following an audit, MSA republished the championship table confirming Smith as champion by a single point over Verheul.
Verheul won all four DD2 gearbox races on Saturday as he left Spanoyannis to fend off Smith and Ian Allnutt in a tight and often slippery battle for second.
Divan Braak took fourth for the day from Eugene Brittz.
Although he was initially credited as champion, Nick Verheul’s efforts ultimately proved just not enough to topple Jamie Smith from the top of the title log, with Allnutt ending third from Spanoyannis.
