Township life inspires Ntshawini hip-hop muso’s work [Watch]

He is regularly booked for performances in Durban clubs but hopes to attract more frequent bookings in KwaDukuza.

Ntshawini’s up and coming hip-hop artist Thuthuka Mntambo is aiming for the stars and wants to be an inspiration for KwaDukuza’s youth.

The 29-year-old, whose stage name is “Saint Guap”, is also a sound engineer, beat maker and music producer working out of his small home studio.

Mntambo said his music is mostly inspired by daily life in the township.

“As much as Ntshawini is known for negative things, there are also many positive aspects most people do not talk about. Through music, I highlight the positives, such as our mothers who work very hard to raise us and always teach us to be good people despite the challenging environment we find ourselves in,” said Mntambo.

While focusing on hip-hop, he is versatile and also does Afro-pop.

Mntambo said he is not in a rush to release an album, but will consider this once he has a fanbase asking for it.
