Cancer support group meets

THE Durban North Cancer Support group met recently for an awareness morning for breast cancer awareness month.

The aim of the morning was to reach out to the community and spread the message that early detection can save lives. The Pink Drive, CANSA and Reach for Recovery were there to promote their causes and spread awareness.

The Durban North Cancer support group, in conjunction with CANSA and Reach for Recovery, meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Durban North Methodist Church hall from 9.30am to 11.30am.

The group is not only open to cancer patients and survivors, but also to friends and family and anyone who needs support or wants to give support. Attending the group provides an opportunity for those that have traveled the same path to share their positive experiences.

The group aims also to empower patients with knowledge and discuss specific cancer conditions as well as nutrition, lifestyle and environment. Guest speakers include oncologists, radiologists and other specialists. CANSA and Reach for Recovery also provide a wealth of information.

The next meeting will be on 12 November. For more information contact Sheila on 083 270 0995.
