Local man loses gun to attackers after shooting
Robbers make off with an local man's gun, despite him shooting at them.

KNIFE wielding robbers managed to wrestle a gun from a local man, after he had shot at them. The incident occurred last week when Vitesh Sewpaul of Sea Cow Lake’s family was under attack. The family, according to police had to endure a night of terror when three knife wielding robbers held them up in their Gum Tree Road home last week.
Police said his wife Asand walked down their home’s passage when she saw the men who had captured mother-in-law in tow. The men forced the two women into a bedroom and tied their mouths shut with handkerchiefs. But in their haste to quieten down the women, the robbers made such a noise that Vitesh was awoken from his sleep.
He confronted the suspects in the bathroom. “The robbers then forced him into the bathroom. Seconds later a gunshot was heard,” Lt Elvis Naidoo of Greenwood Park SAPS said today.
Fearing the worst, the family rushed to the bathroom after the robbers left and found that Vitesh had been stabbed twice in the chest. He was rushed to Addington Hospital. The robbers, made off with a cellphone, firearm and jewellery valued at R100 000.
“No arrests or recoveries have been made,” said Lt Elvis Naidoo, spokesman for the station.
