Injured man derails his attackers

A man who had been stabbed four times by his attackers while on a train trip to Effingham goes after his attackers with gusto.

A MAN who had been stabbed four times by his attackers but managed to pursue them despite his injuries has been hailed a hero by police. Greenwood Park SAPS said Muziwendoda Mhlonga had boarded a train on Good Friday when he was approached by three unknown men. They wanted his hard earned cash.

“The men then drew knives and demanded cash from Mhlongo. Thinking on his feet, Mhlongo grabbed one of the men’s knife, which resulted in him cutting his middle finger as he grabbed the knife,” said Lt Elvis Naidoo, spokesman for Greenwood Park SAPS.

During the scuffle Mhlongo was stabbed twice – once in his knee and again on his lower leg. The knife-wielding men grabbed Mhlongo’s cellphone and cash.

But according to police Mhlongo was not giving up his belongings that easily. Despite his injuries he moved to another coach of the train in search of help. When nobody was willing to assist, Mhlongo continued chasing his attackers coach to coach

“The train driver saw what was happening and blew the train’s horn, alerting security guards who went to Mhlongo’s aid,” Lt Naidoo said.

All three men were nabbed and Mhlongo rushed to a nearby clinic.
