Exhibition at Virginia Prep showcases artistic talents

The school hall has been transformed into a viewing gallery for the general public to view the learners' artwork.

THIS year’s North Durban Schools’ Art Exhibition features the creations and artwork of learners from more than 20 schools in and around Durban.

The event, which is hosted by Virginia Preparatory School, has been going on for more than 30 years.

The school hall has been transformed into a viewing gallery for the general public who had a chance to view the artwork of learners from Grade One to Seven held under an aqua vibes theme.

The exhibition runs until Saturday (August 22) and is open to the public.

Virginia Prep art educator Andrea Watson said she was pleased with how the event panned out.

“I’ve been involved in this project for more than 15 years and we are always blown away by the talent on show at the exhibition. For this year’s theme we’ve asked each of the schools to submit between eight to 10 pieces per grade. I would say around 80% of the art submitted has stuck to the theme and the artwork is absolutely breathtaking,” she said.

If residents are visiting on Friday, the exhibition is currently open until 17:00 and is open from 08:00 until 12:00 on Saturday, August 22.
