Japanese Gardens robbers arrested

It's believed the duo are behind a number of robberies at the Durban North Japanese Gardens.

TWO men have been a arrested by Marshall Security after a series of armed robberies at the Durban North Japanese Gardens.

According to the Marshall’s Tyron Powell, at about 7pm on Friday night (22 August), the company’s control room received a call from its street guard that a female has been robbed by two male suspects of various cellphones.

“She was mugged near the entrance to Japanese gardens. Two of our response officers responded and managed to arrest both suspects and recover the phones. The suspects where handed over to SAPS Durban North,” Powell said.

Earlier this year there had been five armed robberies by knife wielding suspects at the Japanese Gardens. The police at the time speculated the robberies involved the same men as the modus operandi was the same.
