Crusaders triumph in cup final

Crusaders Sports Club celebrate 50th anniversary with KZN cup final win.

THE Nashua Crusaders second XV triumphed in the premier reserve division final on Saturday beating Jonsson College Rovers 41-36.

In doing so they clinched the Peter Taylor Trophy for the first time in the club’s history. It was an exciting show of club rugby as the boys from the North outscored their opponents by six tries to five.

The half time score between the two clubs (12-12) suggested a tight finish and so it proved with five points separating the team at the final whistle.

Coach of the second team Dale Farnham lauded his charges for their never die attitude.

“I’m so proud of the boys. I joined the coaching staff six games ago so to reach a final and win it, is super rewarding. This means so much to the boys and it’s thoroughly deserved.

“We played some enterprising and attacking rugby and I thought we were excellent in all the facets of the game. This is a super achievement considering the club celebrates its 50th anniversary this year,” Farnham said.
