Indaba 2015 kicks off in Durban

Top brass from eThekwini Municipality assured African delegates that they are save in Durban.

The Deputy Mayor of the City of Durban this morning assured the thousands of delegates visiting the city for the annual Tourism Indaba that the city was safe.

Nomvuzo Shabalala was speaking at the Hilton Hotel ahead of the massive tourism exhibition on the back of xenophobic attacks that rocked the city.

Five people were killed in Durban during the xenophobic attacks.

“Durban is safe and this Indaba will ensure that Durban is still the home to the continent,” she said.

The event at which the deputy mayor was speaking was attended by several journalists and exhibitors from Africa.

Indaba is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African continent. The event that started today generates millions of rands for the city.
