Gatemax KFC in uMhlanga Ridge re-opens

After closing its doors on Friday following the latest video scandal, the fast food outlet has reopened for business.

FOLLOWING a weekend of controversy, the uMhlanga Ridge KFC store has opened its doors for business.

Today the store was teeming with customers after a weekend of drama. On Thursday, a video showing an employee of the popular franchise store sharpening a knife on the concrete floor outside of the KFC outlet (situated on the upper end of Umhlanga Rocks Drive) went viral.

The Gatemax branch, near Coastlands Hotel, was initially only temporarily closed on Friday, reportedly due to load shedding, but then remained closed for the rest of the day.

The video was shared on the Facebook page, ‘Durban Restaurants – The good, the bad and the nastyyyy!’. The page has over 42 000 members.

While some members of the community expressed outrage over the actions depicted in the video, others felt that posting the video was unnecessary and sensational.
