Burglars assault Durban North employee

An employee disturbsed a gang of robbers who assaulted him as they were fleeing the premises.

BURGLARS assaulted a staff member at a Durban North business after he disturbed a gang attempting to rob them on the premises in the early hours of this morning. Blue Security operations manager, Brian Jackson, said the incident occurred on Randworth Close in Redhill just after 3am this morning.

“A gang of five burglars cut a hole in the back fence of the property to gain access. When the employee disturbed the burglars as they were fleeing from the premises they turned on the employee and assaulted him. Fortunately, he did not sustain any visible injuries and did not require medical treatment,” he said.

Jackson advised business owners and their staff not to approach intruders on their properties.

“We advise business owners to caution their staff against confronting intruders as doing so often leads to assault and injury. Rather educate staff in security procedures and advise them to press their panic button in case of emergency,” he said.
