Dead whale spotted in eMdloti

Mystery surrounds a dead whale believed to have washed up along eMdloti.

EMDLOTI residents have reported sightings of a dead whale floating in the ocean just off First Avenue. It is believed the carcass has caught on one of the shark nets.

Local resident, Neil Rens’s, comments on social media suggest that the animal has been dead for some time.

“Looks like it has been dead for a couple of days, quite bloated. It must have washed up over night and got caught in the nets. Big bite marks all over,” he wrote on the eMdloti 568 community Facebook page.

Terry Rens, the eMdloti UIP manager, confirmed that the Sharks Board had been notified.
