Man arrested after Virginia Beach murder

A 47-year-old was bludgeoned to death with a brick after argument on a local beach.

A MAN has been arrested following a brutal murder on Virginia Beach on Sunday morning. The body of a 47-year-old man, who has been identified as Bonginkosi Gumede, a vagrant living in the area, was found in the bushes surrounding the beach.

It is alleged Gumede was bludgeoned to death with a brick, which was also found at the scene.

“We found a bloodied brick near the murder scene. His body was discovered by another vagrant on Sunday morning. He immediately reported it to the station. Police cordoned off the area and after an initial investigation, a fellow vagrant was arrested an hour later. When we questioned him, he admitted that Gumede and himself had a fight over money owed and their shacks in the mangroves,” Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for Durban North SAPS.

In June this year, a man was arrested for murdering a vagrant couple at the Beachwood Mangroves.
