Car crashes into Durban North home

The driver and the passenger had to be carefully assisted out of the wreckage.

TWO people were injured when a car smashed into a home on Avon Crescent in Durban North early this morning.

According to Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical paramedics arrived at the scene to find that a luxury sedan had ‘veered’ off the road and into the side of the home.

The vehicle was said to be elevated off the ground while balancing on a retaining wall

“Intermediate life support paramedics carefully made their way into the vehicle, under the guidance and supervision of Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services. The driver and passenger, a male and female both believed to be in their thirties were relatively unharmed and were skillfully assisted out of the wreckage by paramedics, where they were further assessed on the scene and later refused hospital transportation,” he said.

Once the motorists were safe authorities were able to begin a ‘salvage operation’, he added.

“Members of a local vehicle break down and salvage company worked tirelessly throughout the early morning to retrieve the vehicle up the embankment and back onto the roadway,” said Van Reenen.

Authorities were on scene and will investigate further.
