Fairway hijacking leads to M4 crash

Durban North SAPS are investigating the circumstances around an armed hijacking.

AN alleged hijacking ended in a high speed crash on the M4 near the Broadway off-ramp, on Saturday night.

According to a police source, the vehicle was hijacked on Fairway by four armed men. The owner of the vehicle was made to sit in the back seat.

Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen said the owner of the vehicle claimed the hijackers had fled the scene after crashing his car on the M4.

“When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the vehicle lying on its roof. The owner of the vehicle believed to be in his late thirties alleges that he was hijacked by armed men who then fled the scene after the vehicle overturned.

“He was treated for minor injuries and the scene was handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation,” he said.
