Protesters block North Coast Road

Protest action is ongoing at several locations

RESIDENTS are urged to avoid North Coast Road as protesters have blocked part of the busy road. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen protest action has been ongoing since 4am.

“Protesters are currently near the Engen Garage on North Coast Road and we are advising motorists to avoid the area. SAPS are currently on scene,” he said.

According to Greenwood Park resident, Duane Bengston protesters are burning tyres.

“Don’t use North Coast and Mimosa Road, also North Coast and Nandi Drive is crazy. Protesters are burning stuff and throwing rocks at cars,” he said. Inanda Road between Sea Cow Lake and the N2 is still closed to traffic.

In March this year protesters from taxi associations caused havoc by blocking both directions on North Coast Road.
