Tax season to open next week

Last year South Africa recorded a historic revenue collection of R1 trillion for the 2014/15 financial year.

TAXPAYERS have been encouraged to submit their annual income tax returns from 1 July as the annual tax season gets underway. From Friday, 1 July, taxpayers can officially commence completing and submitting their income tax returns.

“We encourage all taxpayers to submit their annual income tax returns,” said Cabinet in a statement on Thursday.

Tax season represents the single biggest annual engagement between the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and taxpayers, when more than four million taxpayers submit their income tax returns. South Africa recorded a historic revenue collection of R1 trillion for the 2014/15 financial year.
