5-Man-gang hijacks Effingham couple

The woman was assaulted after she pressed the panic button.

A GANG of five armed men hijacked an Effingham Heights couple in their driveway on Wednesday night. The men jumped over the Devshi Drive property gate and assaulted the woman, before fleeing with the vehicle.

According to W/O Leon Audh, at least four of the suspects were armed. He said they held the couple at gunpoint as they demanded that they hand over the vehicle.

“The victim’s wife was assaulted after she managed to press a panic button that she had in her possession. After the complainant managed to pull his wife from the vehicle the suspects made their getaway in his grey Mercedes Benz,” said Audh.

No arrests have been made and the vehicle has not been recovered.

This is the third reported hijacking in the Greenwood Park policing district in two weeks.
