GRAPHIC: Boy (7) savagely attacked by Rottweiler
A property viewing turned into a nightmare for a local family as they were forced to fight off the vicious attack of a Rottweiler.

THREE days after a Park Hill couple was mauled by two Rottweiler’s on Blackburn Road a seven-year-old boy and his family were viciously attacked by a dog from the same breed in La Lucia.
Rahil Mansingh along with his father, Anesh (47) and his mother, Raakhee (41) sustained serious bite wounds on Friday while they were inspecting a property on William Campbell Drive. His brother, Aryan (6) witnessed the attack from the car.
The estate agent was also bitten after they had managed to pull the dog off of the little boy.
“We have been inspecting various houses with the estate agent over the past few months. She had asked us to meet her at the property around 3pm. When we arrived at the house she was already inside the property and opened the gate for us,” said Anesh.
“She led us down some stairs to an area where the Rottweiler and two small dogs were being kept behind a small fence. We were asked to follow her. I objected and asked her if there was somewhere she could put the dogs. She responded saying there was no where else for the dogs to go, and insisted they were fine,” he added.
According to Anesh the Rottweiler suddenly pushed the gate open and dashed straight for the Clifton School pupil. Intimidated by the size of the animal the boy tried to run, and the dog attacked, his father said.
“We tried everything to get him off. But nothing seemed to work. I hit him with a gas bottle and even stabbed him with my car keys. I am a grown man, and even I was scared of him, but I knew I had to save my child,” explained Anesh.
A relieved Anesh said he was finally able to stop the attack after he poked the dog in the eye. “The moment the dog released Rahil, my wife snatched him up and ran for the car. The estate agent grabbed the dog by the collar and pulled him away. That is when I suspect it bit her as well,” he said.

Rahil suffered serious puncture wounds to his hands and legs. He has undergone two emergency surgeries at the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital since the attack.
Anesh was bitten on the hands and knee, while Raakhee was bitten on her breast as the duo fought the dog to save their son.
“He is now scarred for life – physically and psychologically. None of us have been sleeping since the attack,” added Anesh.
The Mansingh family are now hoping to raise awareness after the recent attacks. “We urged people to remain wary of these large breeds, and for owners to keep their animals secure,” he said.
