Dead body found at Spaza shop

School pupils discovered the dead body on Friday but only reported it on Monday.

LOCAL school children made a grisly discovery at an Avoca spaza shop on Friday afternoon. According to Kyle van Reenen, the body was discovered in Bhamo Avenue.

“Reports indicate the children went to the local shop at a house in Bhamo Avenue last week and discovered the shopkeeper deceased in his home. However, the children only managed to report their findings to their teacher on Monday morning who in turn, alerted the local neighborhood watch.

“A message was sent out about the finding on the community WhatsApp group and Marshall Security responded to the scene to assist. On investigation of the premises, the badly decomposed body of the man, believed to be approximately 58 years of age, was found in his kitchen,” he said.

Van Reenen added the community last saw the man towards the end of July. The scene has been handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.
