Hijackers identified as cop shooters

AK47 wielding gunmen pulled over by Greenwood Park cop were driving a hijacked car.

POLICE have identified the Greenwood Park officer that was shot and critically wounded on Queen Nandi Drive last night as Const Blessing Sibisi.

What’s more, the station spokesman, W/O Leon Audh, said that the vehicle the 32-year-old policeman pulled over before he was shot had been hijacked in Chatsworth.

“When Const Sibisi stepped out of his vehicle four suspects armed with AK47s jumped out of the hijacked car and opened fire,” he said.

In the hail of bullets Sibisi only sustained two gunshot wounds, said Audh. He was shot in the leg as well as the abdomen.

Paramedics performed advance life support care to stabilise the policeman and he was then rushed to Gateway Private hospital. Sibisi remains in a serious but stable condition.

After shooting the officer the suspects abandoned the hijacked vehicle and fled on foot.

According to Audh, police are still investigating the incident and have not made any arrests.
