Girl (5) taken from school, returned home

The mother of a child who went missing today wants witnesses to come forward with information.

FIVE-YEAR-OLD Riley Ellis who went missing at around 1pm today is finally home safe. Her mother, Rhianwyn Ellis told the Northglen News this afternoon that the time her daughter was missing were the worst three hours of her life.

She said she was grateful that her little girl was unscathed after two women allegedly forced the Grade R pupil into their car. She added that the women drove off with the unsuspecting child.

In a bizarre turn of events, the women dropped the child at her grandmother’s house. “My mother, Riley’s grandmother, picks her up from school everyday at exactly 12.30. When my mother got to the school, Riley was not there. That’s when the panic set in.”

She added that they immediately made their way to the Greenwood Park Police station to report the child missing – by the time the frantic grandmother arrived back at her home she found the child sitting on the verandah.

The mother said the Riley had to force her way through the locked gate of her grandmother’s house to gain entry.

“It was the worst three hours of my life. I was at the police station with my mother and she said she was going home. She phoned to tell me that Riley was sitting on the verandah,” Ellis said.

Ellis is appealing to witnesses to come forward with any information that could assist them in determining who the two women were.
