McIlroy set to send sparks flying

Three lucky readers can each win four tickets to Redbeard and Jeff’s Great Christmas Adventure on at Riverside branch of Grace Family Church in Durban North.

GET ready for a rollicking festive outing with Durban’s favourite funny man Aaron McIlroy as he teams up with actor-director Patrick Kenny for the new family show, Redbeard and Jeff’s Great Christmas Adventure.

We find ourselves in Santa’s returns department, where all left-overs and unwanted gifts land up. Captain Redbeard (McIlroy) and his hapless side-kick Jeff (played by Kenny) have been commissioned by Mrs Claus to field complaints from undeserving children who aren’t prepared to care for their new possessions.
McIlroy and Kenny have concocted an uproarious narrative whose off-the-wall, dumb-and-dumber style melds the joyous absurdities of the world of Roald Dahl, with a hint of the lusty antics that underpin the much-loved Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Set to send comedy sparks flying, this hour-long entertainment, which is presented by MacBob Productions, is laced with a heady mix of seasonal songs, ranging from the likes of favourite items such as Mary’s Boy Child to I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and Santa is Coming to Town. These are performed with gusto by a group of talented senior primary and high school youngsters, under the aegis of musical director by Shelley McLean and choreographer Leigh Meyer.

Redbeard and Jeff’s Great Christmas Adventure plays at the newly-refurbished Riverside branch of Grace Family Church at 63 Anthony Road, Umgeni Park in Durban North. Performances are at noon, from Tuesday, 13 December to Saturday 17 December. Refreshments, including soft drinks, coffee and popcorn, will be available, and safe parking with car guards will be provided.

Tickets through Webtickets are R65 (children) and R85 (adults). To book, visit Webtickets at branches of Pick ’n Pay, or book online at www.webtickets.co.za. For more information, email info@webtickets.co.za  or call 086 111 0005.
