Woman raped in uMhlanga, suspect arrested

The man allegedly involved in the rape was arrested on Monday.

A WOMAN was raped by a man in a terrifying attack at the uMhlanga taxi rank, at 8pm on Saturday. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, the woman, who lives near the rank, was confronted by a man wielding a knife.

“He forced her to undress at knife-point and told her to be quiet or he would hurt her. He then undressed and forced himself onto her without using a condom. He then fled the scene on foot. The traumatised car guard then made her way to the Durban North SAPS where she laid the charge. He was arrested on Monday by members of the station after the 25-year-old positively identified him,” he said.

He will appear in court later this week.
