Puppy love is in the air

The Animal Assistance Association want to share the love this Valentine's month by giving special packs to the animals of Animally Haven.

THIS Valentine’s Day you can share your love not only with the people in your life but also with the animals who form part of many people’s families. Durban North’s, Animal Assistance Association is raising funds for Ballito’s Animally Haven. The association is running a drive aimed at giving the animals at Animally Haven a special package. It will include a Valentine’s dinner, biscuits and a toy for the rescued animals to play with.

“R50 is all it takes to sponsor a furry friend,” said Bianca Hauser, a director in the non-profit company.

At the time of the interview, the Animal Assistance Association were just R500 from their target of R2,500. Hauser said, “The money goes a long way to get the 400kg of food for the animals at the haven.”

They will also be hosting an event on 18 February where there will be a puppy-kissing booth with an instant-camera to record that special moment.

The packages bought with the funds raised will be handed over to Animally Haven at the end of the month of love, having begun in the last week of January.

The Animal Assistance Association is a NPC which was started in 2016. The organisation supports various animal charities by running fundraising drives on their behalf. They have already run a successful Christmas drive in which the NPC raised R4 000 and goodwill for Kitty Care. They are now looking to bring some love to the lives for our four-footed friends in Ballito.

The Animally Haven is an animal rescue haven in Ballito. Founded by Gianna Scoulelis, the Northglen News followed the incredible story of Dino the husky in 2016. Rescued by the haven from Shakaskraal early last year, Dino underwent an astounding transformation from the inhumane condition he was found in.

Outrage over his neglect garnered support from the members of the Durban North Neighbours Facebook page, with hundreds of Rands collected for his treatment and rehabilitation.
