THE National Science Festival will showcase a program called Etcetera that is sure to bring chills, thrills and a set of very unique skills to science enthusiasts this year.

Grahamstown will host the festival from March 8 to 14.  When a body of an internationally acclaimed psychiatrist is discovered, it is up to the visitors to join forces with Grahamstown’s finest to unravel a Murder at the Monument.

This is a scientific tale about a murder of an internationally acclaimed physicist which will be unraveled by science.

Through the support of the Department of Science and Technology, the festival will be celebrating its 21st anniversary. The theme of the festival is ‘Tour de Science’ and it will take visitors on a journey where they will dig up fossils, build and race soapbox cars and speed to the monument and arrive just in time to solve a chilling murder mystery.

The program is interactive and it refuses to be classified as lectures, workshops or exhibitions and will bring an exciting take on the festival theme.

Thandi Bombi who is the media officer for the festival said that visitors will also enjoy mathematics with their families, speed date some scientists and stand a chance to walk away with amazing prizes, including a one year scholarship to study science at Rhodes University.
“ Visitors will run through the streets of Grahamstown during the day and relaxing with good food and esteemed scientific company in the evening. The festival promises fun for everyone who is on the lookout for the electronic program available on the website from 6 February 2017,” said Bombi.
